Save Matheson Hammock Park... Stop the Boat Warehouse!
It's almost unbelievable...
The County recently awarded a private company the right to build a massive, 5-story, 62,000 sq ft boat warehouse at Matheson Hammock Park. The County didn't ask for any comments from the community, didn't survey nearby residents or frequent park users, or assess the impact such a development would have on the environment or quality of life in and around Matheson Hammock Park.
- There is no doubt that a boat warehouse will create significant noise pollution from the equipment used to move boats in and out of storage.
- There is no doubt that a boat warehouse will add to traffic congestion on Old Cutler Road.
- There is no doubt that a 5-story multi-million cubic feet warehouse will forever change the sightlines to and from Matheson Hammock Park.
Fortunately, there's still time to stop it.
The boat warehouse can't be built on Matheson Hammock Park without the approval of the City of Coral Gables. And the City of Coral Gables is VERY responsive to the concerns voiced by its residents as well as its neighbors and visitors.
